Frequently asked questions Where can I buy Tushies? click Tushies are now available in selected Boots Stores. click Why are tushies different? Most other disposable nappies add artificial chemical absorbents such as acrylic acid polymer salts to their all wood pulp padding in order to increase absorbency. These granules, which are inside the absorbent padding of the diaper, turn into gel when they come in contact with moisture. This gel can end up on your baby. AVOID ADDED ARTIFICIAL CHEMICAL ABSORBENTS. Why use an artificial chemical absorbent when you can use a GEL-FREE natural blend cotton absorbent? How do I know Tushies contain no gel? Cut open the padding of a Tushies nappy and you'll find a natural blend cotton and wood pulp fluff. Granule-Free! Open the padding of the leading disposable nappy and you can shake out white granules. These are the acrylic acid polymer salts. Put the granules in water and watch them turn into gel. What are tushies made from? Tushies are made from a blend of cotton and woodpulp spun together rather that the chemical suberabsorbers found in other disposable nappies (the gel you often find on your babies skin). They contain no perfumes, dyes, latex and definitely no gel. The woodpulp is 100% chlorine free. Are Tushies Biodegradable? No claims are made about biodegradability.Remember virtually all disposable nappies are disposed of in the regular rubbish collection which goes to land fill. Land fill is a virtually anaerobic environment which is not conducive to the break down of natural materials let alone chemical suberabsorbers. While the majority of the materials in a Tushies nappy are natural there are fastening tabs and a waterproof membrane like other nappies. There is no such thing as a biodegradable or degradable disposable diaper. In the US landfills are anaerobic-no air, in addition no light and no water-all necessary elements for biodegradability. As we understand the science, a diaper would no more be likely to "biodegrade" in a typical landfill than would a soda can. Even 100 year old newspapers can be found intact in landfills. Some Tushies users use home composting after they have cut off the fastening tabs and cut the nappy in half to expose the inner cotton and woodpulp. They report satisfactory success, however these reports are not scientifically based. How are Tushies whitened? Tushies are whitened using a chlorine free process Tell me about Tushies baby wipes!
